Located within Bukhara’s UNESCO World Heritage Site in Uzbekistan, the Bukhara Heritage District revitalises the historic urban fabric through a network of restored buildings, courtyards, public spaces and pedestrian routes. The project by waiwai draws on the city’s architectural heritage and craft traditions while introducing new cultural uses.
The photographs explore the relationship between historic architecture, material textures and contemporary life within the district.
