Designed by Foster + Partners, Zayed National Museum is located in the Saadiyat Cultural District in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Dedicated to the history and heritage of the United Arab Emirates and the legacy of its founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the museum brings together contemporary architecture and cultural identity.
The interplay of natural light, shadow and space shapes the experience of the museum’s interiors. Daylight creates changing patterns across pale surfaces, revealing the geometry and scale of the architecture. The presence of people brings these spaces into human perspective, shifting the focus from the monumentality of the building to the experience of being within it.
